Hi all, I recently redeveloped our bingo portal www.bingolobby.co.uk and purchased an SSL cert as I was told that Google ranks sites better if they are secure - is that correct?

Yes it is a positive factor. This gives a small boost in the SERPs.

P.S. I like your site: beautiful design and pages load quickly. But maybe you should put some of your offers more prominent and not all place them on an equal footing. For example: "top 5", "best", etc? On the other hand, you should perhaps add a review for each offer?

Is it a really small factor or is it's something noticiable?

This is certainly not an extremely important factor. Links, content, speed, etc. are much more important. But that's a factor that matters.

one of the factor that Google takes in consideration starting from 2017 (and yes there are many other more important factors)

Hi Mario - thanks for your reply and feedback about our new website. The review for each brand can be found by clicking the information icon - for example: https://www.bingolobby.co.uk/sun-bingo-lobby - so I guess this needs changing so it's more obvious. I'll re-order the "top" sites like you suggested, great idea. Can you offer any other advice to increase our SERP? Thanks again

Hello?!
The first and only two posts in the forum right now, I repeat: TWO, includes links to his main and an important subpage, and he is more than happy that it looks not spammy as it is because both posts are surrounded by regular posts by regular members.
And he is so happy that it with your help not looks spammy, that you received all a wonderful thanks.

I would say evrything that does your site better is good for seo but its not something that will outrank sites without.
Thank you all for your feedback - not quite sure what Leppold is on about, but the other feedback has been valued and I have already started to make the suggestions you made Mario - thank you. We have started to cross-sell into the Casino market - any ideas who to partner with and who to avoid? Thanks again, Gareth.
it's one out of aprox 200 ranking factors. It's a tiny or 1% difference but everything helps. You probably wouldn't notice much if that's all you do but if you implement others such as speed, links etc this will help much more

I have a couple of established websites that I recently installed SSL certificates on and they did not see any ranking increases. The good thing is that I didn't see any ranking decreases either. Before I was a bit hesitant to change to https since all my previous backlinks are going to http, but luckily, changing to SSL does not affect your rankings negatively in any way.

It is a very small factor in my experience. But hey... lots of small factors make a big difference.

Yes it put some effect on it, but not much as i know about it, do positive things good seo then your site gonna up in google. And keep server disaster recovery plan, if you will face any issues regarding the server and all.

It's a small factor but you will have to make your site load faster since https seems to slow the page down.
I look at it this way, google wants to rank sites that are "trustworthy" - I personally trust sites more that have SSL do you? if so then maybe big G does too.
Sites aren't going to rank on SSL alone but it helps build a trustworthy image so I think its worth having plus I believe visitors will also gain more confidence which could lead to more conversions
