Yes that's a moving target. It also rapidly loses its appeal due to redundancy so staff and outsourced people are constantly purging, moving into a relative field or just burning out. The first thing to go is sloppiness. So yes, I agree with that point.

Most of your FB, Twitter and the other important ones can be automated to a point. It's a pain in the ass, but well worth it and finding an OCD coder to fill up 365 lines of titles, content and
SEO elements (like on a WordPress blog for example) is easier. There are certain tricks you'll learn along the way that will cut the time it takes in half.
The other option is to create a customized RSS feed with CSS and create a news section on a 1st level directory, but this is the lazy route and take quite a long time to perfect. Duplicate content isn't an issue with this one either.
But as you said, if you can afford the time and money-wise to do it by hand then that's the preferred method as you can discipline your engagement routines and possibly convert these to DP's.
