    Post Monetizing informational articles

    Hi GPWA members!

I'm running a small betting blog. Right now I'm at the beginning of the journey, so any help would be appreciated!

I have a lot of articles posted, but the majority of them (that are ranking) are informational posts. Description of strategies, tips and tricks. I have several affiliate review posts too.

My problem is that I don't have any good idea for monetizing those informational posts. I'm linking to the affiliate posts, but it seems that these articles don't attract visitors with buyer intent.

I'm not using any display ads, and as I see noone is using in this industry. From these articles only 15-18% of visitors are visiting an additional post, and only a small percentage are visiting the affiliate page.

I'm already using a lead magnet pop-up in the corner of the screen.

The majority of my visitors (68%) are mobile users.

What do you think, how could I monetize these informational articles?

    Hi,

It might be a bit tricky to give advice here because the keywords that bring in visitors are unknown (and best to keep them that way), however search intent is what ultimately matters here.
If your visitor comes to read about betting strategies, tips and tricks - then they probably already know where they want to apply their newly acquired knowledge.
Again, depending on what brought a person to your page you can try to figure out what can work together with whatever they were looking for.

For instance, if you would have an article on "how bet on soccer corner markets while the game is live" then you could in theory put forward a list of "betting operators who often offer corner markets" or something like that.

Another thing you could potentially focus on is trying to find some keywords to target, where users will actually be interested in registering with a new bookmaker. These aren't always easy to find and rank for, but if you do - you will see they are definitely worth the effort.

Thank you for taking the time and answering! It's eye opening.

So based on your experience changing the intent is not a good route to take?

For example, I don't have too much success with my lead magnet strategy pdf. I thought about offering a guide course..but I think if only a few people is willing to subscribe for a free pdf, who knows how much would pay for it.

I could be wrong here...but I suspect that your target subject (value betting etc) is attracting the 'wrong' types ie those that are not deeply interested in the strategies (and hence paying for them), but more interested in the quick positive betting result without having to actually do much thinking to obtain it.

By association, they're likely the types that will already have accounts, and/or been through the mill of free bet offers etc (ie they will already have accounts at a number of bookies).

All a bit of guesswork, possibly you could get more of a clue (as Paul says) by working how they are arriving on your pages. In other words, their original intent.

Again, as Paul says, you are probably best finding a potential CTA that ties in with the content of the pages/posts. I wouldn't change the info focus of what you have, but think more about adding content which could have a potentially good CTA associated (of course, if I'm right above then this is going to take some clever thought!)

The other way of looking at this is...maybe you're worrying too early about monetizing, and your better chances of longer term monetary success lie in focusing now on doing what you seem to do well...building up a strong and valuable collection of relevant betting resources...and with that building up traffic which may get you better chances of turning it all into money down the line.

PS I love what you've done with the site, great effort!

Thanks a lot for your kind words! I really appreciate it

First of all, I won't promote bookmakers. They are not accepting affiliates from my type of content. Only exchanges and 1-2 other bookie.

I think you are right, I might worry too early I think it would be better to ask these questions next year or so...but I would like to finish the monetization process as much as possible )

Does anyone know any good source for marketing tactics? for affiliate blogs?

Consider running a test, disable the popup and see if visitor engagement increases.

In addition, study some of the other responses for things to try and focus on and test, test, test.

OK so take arbing and value betting as examples. If I click on either of those, there is no RebelBetting CTA that is obvious (I will rule out the square banner that says 'download the ebook' on the right sidebar - banners are pretty much proven to be regularly ignored). You might be better off with a prominent written CTA on RebelBetting on those pages, and then on the individual posts (of course I use the RB example as they're probably one of the best, but there are other similar services, right).

Just be aware, my own experience with RebelBetting over many years has not been good...but that may just be because my traffic is not strong enough for it, you may well have better success. Only testing will prove it....and actually much may depend on where those visitors are coming from.

Try optimizing your content around arbitrage betting keywords and add casinos like your friend sbo .net/strategy/arbitrage-betting/ does

P.S Try to rank also for "arbitrage betting tips" keyword, this should attract some wanting to place a bet.

FYI, I saw a bunch of JQuery related errors pop up in Google Dev Console... you may want to look into those technical errors.

I really like the site. Informative, not in your face about it, good stuff.

I think if you keep producing quality content, you are bound to get more and more traffic and then, by virtue of simple volume, having 15-18% of them go read a review will start to pay off financially.

Also, why not also advertise traditional bookies? Just putting up reviews for them could ultimate get you a few customers here and there and help pay the bills. Regardless of if the content is directly geared towards those types of bookies or not... you already have gamblers on your website so...?
