    I stopped for 5 years and started from scratch and i can tell you it is so much harder and mainly more expensive then 10 years ago. The good old days are over when keywords were easily to grap.

    I'd be curious what your domains are. Been seeing some interesting sites rise to the top that have had very little traffic over the last few years. Also surprising to see more exact match type domains outranking some heavy hitters when this was somewhat frowned upon not too long ago.

    Everyone is a lot more clued up now on the level of quality that needs to go out...so there's a fair chance that it's not the EM in the domain that's playing the major part (although it may well play some). I'd suggest it's possibly a case of the owners of good EMDs being more serious (and/or deep-pocketed) about what they're doing and knowing what's required.

    Equally, a lot more will know what the 'manipulations' are and which ones work/don't.

    Yeah, that's a fair point. Also lots of companies now in play rather than single affiliates so more funds to play with. Encouraging though for those with or seeking an EMD.

    It can be an uphill battle, but so could starting from scratch.

    Using the old sites gives you the benefit of a far more aged domain, and the possibility of a handful of links that might still be pointing at the old site.

    Be sure to have redirects in place to new site or pages when you relaunch.
    Be sure to relaunch as https if you had not changed that previously.
    Any old pages, say for reviews of operators that no longer are open or promoted should be redirected to pages with content that might be a match. (example microgaming #2 closed -> microgaming #3 you are promoting)
    If you had cloaked visit links like in an html or php visit folder, be sure that exists and they point at operators you do promote in case and of those old links are suddenly clicked in old cached pages etc

    Depending on how big the site is, the preferred method might be to rebuild the site on an ip or dev server, then launch all at once.

    The above is less pertinent if you plan on keeping a lot of the old site, structure and content and just change or update the pages where you see fit. If so just start making changes and improvements as you can, (again remembering to change outdated visit links to sites you do promote)

    Thanks to everyone for your opinions. Unfortunately I've been busy with other stuff in the past weeks but I think I might give it a try!

    @Springbok I didn't start yet.

    Websites from 10 years ago may not be compatible with smartphones. Currently, 90% of access is via smartphones, so it is fatal if it is not supported. Even if the domain is strong and there are many backlinks, the content that is difficult to read when opened on a smartphone will be closed in 1 second. If smartphones are not supported, we judge that it is best to create a new site with backlinks.
