Question Ranking a Startup website for casino keywords

    Hello SEO guys,

Hope all is well and Google is not dying to ChatGPT anytime soon, so we can continue putting bread on the table.

We've just launched a casino website and we're getting good initial sports betting rankings in the 1 month we're live. However, in casino - there's not even 1 top100.

Is it google's YMYL still determining if we are worthy?
Is it a special sandbox for casino?

Have you been through that - what, how & when are you (or have you) expecting to see any rankings?

Appreciate any suggestions - in terms of how the website is structured, Casino is a main focus, well-linked, top in navigation menus, top in terms of internal linking, content is good, credible, has schema markup for the FAQ's we have, etc...

In terms of links, we're not buying and trying to go naturally about it - to avoid any potential long-term issues.

You'll probably have to post the site name to get any sensible/worthwhile comments or theories.

But one month to see rankings is logically nowhere near enough time. Search engines would most likely want to build up trust in your site/pages before they could show to searchers.

Having said that...then it's kind of a surprise if you're getting sports betting traffic. I'd start by analyzing why I'm getting traffic/rankings for sports betting keywords, and see if there is any logical reasoning from that analysis that might indicate why not casino.

My bet is it's some anomaly that's giving you sports rankings.

Thanks for the reply - I wouldn't want to promote a company/brand/link here since I am a new member.

Although, I might agree about it being anomaly - there's also the fact it's an old domain, an existing international brand, and the content we created is so good. Thing is my casino content is also amazing - I'd be hoping to see at least top 100. Also, in search console I had instances of 1 impression at 100% CTR visiting from "casino online [country]" - I'd assume it's a bot of some kind. GSC reports an average position 8 - which again is not true.

Ah OK yes well you might have some advantage from it being an old and previously used domain.

I think you can post it here with no hyperlink without any real worries. But (once you have the requisite 10 posts) then feel free to pm it to me and I'll have a look.

Define amazing content. Also, amazing content according to..?

In my experience, content is not enough on this niche. You will need a little bit more to be in top 10.

Yep, a painstakingly thorough, well-written, helpful guide to "online casinos" -- or another language/small market equivalent -- will not rank without links.

Either you acquire them naturally or buy them. And few people will naturally link to an "online casinos" page unless:

    1) You're already #1 and they're too lazy to find other content, or

    2) They find you on page 8 and appreciate what you wrote.

Hate to be skeptical, but you're going to need a the right mix of: content, links, luck, and patience. If you don't buy, a lot of patience, good outreach, and a lot of luck.

EAT and YMYL are still very important. I think the better question is how are you going to add value to potential players while there are tons of online casino review sites out there. Establish trust first, and the rest will fall into place. Promote brands that pay players on time and in full. Put players interests in front you your interest and give it some time. No shortcuts.

I get the point robyroy is making about amazing content. It's only me who thinks so because of the amount of effort & research, the kind of information we provide - it's all about the user. But I can never be 100% sure, I am biased.

Also, a bit disappointed that it's all leading up to link buying, which was supposed to be hated by Google but it's everybody doing it.

One thing about EAT - would you put your name there to gain it a bit of authority? If you are person with a good social following, a known expert in the industry - how can big G appreciate this? Also, I was thinking of getting the whole team on the website for further social proof.

And thanks everyone for the participation, really hoping to learn something I am missing (not link buying though).

One month is not that long in today's SEO. More importantly, you will have to build links. Approaching it naturally is something Google is promoting, but in practice, you won't see much of it in casino SEO.

What would account for a decent timeline for a website to start ranking on Google, given the SEO rank on Google page optim is say 92.
