After a wild season in 2010, Sports Interaction’s betting analyst Al Dannity likes normal service to resume in the AFC West this season.

Oakland went 6-0 against divisional opposition last season but repeating that will be no easy task. Losing Zach Miller was a big blow to Raider nation. Miller was quarterback Jason Campbell’s safety blanket during an inspiring first season in Oakland for the ex-Redskin. Now he will be forced to lean heavily on Jacoby Ford and other, less reliable targets. I expect the Raiders to take a step back in Hue Jackson’s first season but, unlike previous season, this should only be a lull in the eventual resurgence of this Oakland team.

The Broncos don’t know what to do. It’s not really possible for Denver to take another step back, unless they plan on losing all their divisional games this season. The biggest questions surround the quarterback situation where Kyle Orton is the continued subject of trade talks while Tim Tebow remains a talented but untested leader in waiting. It’s a horrible situation for the Broncos with no real right answer. Orton is a solid fire-fighter, the kind of quarterback you want when a team is struggling to retain respectability, but he’s not the man to turn Denver into a force in this division. Tebow hasn’t earned the trust of his teammates yet as a pro-style quarterback. Until he does, all those intangibles he has won’t mean a thing. This could be a very testing year in Denver.

The Chiefs are going to have to answer a lot of questions in 2011. There’s no questioning the talent on this roster but they substantially exceeded all expectations in 2010. The signs of this team slowing down and reverting back to mortal levels became obvious towards the end of last season. Now they must continue to develop their offense without the creative mind of Charlie Weis at the helm. That’s a big loss for Kansas City as Weis had worked wonders with Matt Cassel.

With questions abounding over the other three teams, it’s no wonder the San Diego Chargers look poised to return to the top of the pile in the AFC West this season. Having made some wise moves in the draft, including adding Jordan Todman to their ground game, the Bolts look ready to assert dominance over the division yet again. Statistically the Chargers were beasts on both sides of the ball last season but they failed to close out games. I don’t expect that to be the case this season, with Norv Turners team returning to the playoffs after a one-year absence.
